Who we are
This privacy notice applies to the website lochstack.com, operated by Lochstack Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17215538. We are the data controller for personal data processed via this website.

What we collect
This site is intentionally minimal. The personal data we receive is limited to:
- Server access logs — when you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically records technical details including your IP address, the URL you requested, the date and time of the request, your browser user-agent, and HTTP referer. This is standard for any website.
- Email correspondence — if you email us at
hello@lochstack.comor any other Lochstack address, we receive whatever you send (your email address, name, message contents, attachments). - Information shared by your browser to third-party font services — see "Third parties" below.
We do not run analytics on this site, do not set first-party cookies, do not embed tracking pixels, and do not host contact forms or lead-capture mechanisms.
Why we process it, and our lawful basis
- Server logs — to operate the site, diagnose technical issues, and investigate abuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).
- Email correspondence — to respond to enquiries and, where relevant, to perform pre-contractual steps or a contract with you. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, or performance of a contract / pre-contractual steps (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) UK GDPR).
Third parties
Two third parties are involved in delivering this site:
- Our hosting provider — holds the server logs described above. The hosting provider acts as data processor; Lochstack Ltd is the data controller. We can identify the current hosting provider on request.
- Google Fonts — this site loads two typefaces (Inter Tight and IBM Plex Mono) from
fonts.googleapis.comandfonts.gstatic.com. When your browser fetches these fonts, Google receives your IP address and user-agent. Google is an independent controller in respect of that data. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy. We are reviewing this dependency and may self-host fonts in a future update.
International transfers
This site is hosted in the United States. Personal data in server logs is therefore transferred outside the UK. We rely on our hosting provider's UK GDPR-compliant transfer mechanisms (the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses). Google Fonts may also process your IP address in the United States.
Retention
- Server logs — retained by our hosting provider in line with their default log retention; we do not separately archive them.
- Email correspondence — retained for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, plus a reasonable period for record-keeping (typically up to 7 years where the correspondence relates to a commercial engagement, in line with UK record-keeping obligations). You can ask us to delete earlier correspondence at any time, subject to any legal hold.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it is inaccurate;
- have it erased ("right to be forgotten"), subject to limited exceptions;
- restrict or object to its processing;
- data portability, where applicable;
- withdraw any consent you have given (note: we do not currently rely on consent as a lawful basis);
- complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you believe we have mishandled your data.

Cookies
This site sets no first-party cookies. The Google Fonts request described above does not set cookies under current Google practice. If this changes, we will update this notice and add an appropriate cookie consent mechanism.
Changes to this notice
If we change this notice, we will update the "Effective" date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage.
